Bathtime blues – Tommee Tippee review and giveaway

Isn’t it funny how kids can change at the bat of an eyelid?

Change what they want, what they like and dislike, I mean.

Just when you think you have everything under control they decide to mix things up and turn everything pear shaped in a big way.

This happened to us recently with Smiley our 17-month-old.

Ever since she was born she has loved the bath. She’d splash and kick those deliciously chubby little arms and legs around smiling and squealing with delight. Then one evening out of the blue, she decided she did not like the bath anymore. She did not like it one little bit.

Within seconds of me putting her in she would stand up and plead to me with outstretched arms, ‘Me, me, meeeeee!’ begging to be taken straight out.

Our once playful, winding down ritual for the girls had turned overnight into something that completely exasperated me and distressed Smiley.

When Tommee Tippee generously asked me to personally select some of their products to review and giveaway recently, I headed straight to their bath product selection. It was time for me to bring in the big guns to resolve this bath issue.

When it came time for the big reveal of the new bath toys, Smiley’s eyes nearly popped out of her head. In an instant she went from detesting the bath to this.

tommee

Tommee Tippee’s collection of bath products can only be described as bright, fun and practical.

The girls have been having fun with the Bathtime Stack & Float Fun Play, the Bathtime Tub Appliques, the Kissee Fishees and rubber duckie.

Both our 17-month-old and three-year-old love the toys.

The Bathtime Stack & Float Fun Play was an instant hit. Our three-year-old stacked and unstacked it with great speed, while Smiley, once her big sister allowed her to have a turn, liked to take the top toy off and then put it back on over and over again. I know she is going to get a lot of enjoyment out of this toy as she continues to develop and learn how to stack and unstack it in the correct order.

The Tub Appliques have been a winner also. The only problem with these is that there’s not enough! After much arguing over the appliques, the girls came to a truce (with the help of me) – two sea creatures each. Our eldest not surprisingly took the pink starfish and octopus, while Smiley happily took the blue and yellow fish and orange crab.

The girls have a lot of fun sticking and unsticking the creatures on the side of the bath. Smiley likes to drop them into the water and search for them under the bubbles. When she finds one she raises it above her head and cries out ‘Yay!’ I love the playful colours of the appliques. I’ll definitely be getting some more to add a splash of colour to our bathroom.

Smiley is also obsessed with the pink bathtime duckie which she likes to have by her side at all times, while our three-year-old has fun watching the kissee fishees give each other a smooch.

The tub toy bag is obviously my favourite. Held up with two cute suction backed sea creatures, the bag can be attached to the side of the bath to allow the toys to drain. It’s a great way of storing the bath toys and keeping them dry.

All Tommee Tippee bath toys are BPA free, designed with your child in mind, and come in happy colours.

Well I am so glad that worked! We had about 18 months of Elka not wanting to bathe because I had put in a “scary” toy which made noise one evening. At some point, she changed her mind about it. Needed those toys I think! x

I’m sure they would, Bec, and you can never have enough. I knew you would like the bath. I always love looking at the bathrooms you post on your blog. I wish you could see better in this pic, but we have a pretty patterned recess where we put the bath products πŸ™‚

Hayley’s just moved from the baby bath to the big bath about two weeks ago and she loves it. She has a few squirty toys and in the baby bath daddy had to take them out to wash her because its so small. She’d always try to hide them down her side so he couldn’t take them away. Now that shes in the big bath they get to stay in the whole time and she crawls after them, she totally loves it.

Totally want to win this! Celeste loves being in the big bath even though she is actually in her toddler tub inside the big bath – but that’s cool! How gorgeous is your bath tub too?! Excellent products and I can hear Celeste squealing with delight for these already even though she’s never actually cast eyes upon them!

That is so true, Josefa. I remember when we had bath troubles with our eldest – she was very scared when we got the big bath – that I even let her take her Teddy comforter in and get him sopping wet. Desperate times call for desperate measures πŸ™‚

I would LOVE to win this for the girls. Ever since we got the bathroom done we’ve made having a bath part of the nightly routine and so I’ve been on the hunt for bath toys everywhere I go. The best ones I’ve found were a Crayola boat with floating bath crayons. Punky loves to draw on the side of the bath and they wash off easily at the end. I especially like the idea of those appliquΓ©s, they look so cool!
