I have been feeling the love from my blogging buddies big time lately, receiving not one, not two, but three nominations for a Liebster award in the last month!
A Liebster award is a virtual high five from one blogger to another recognising and supporting their work.
In the year and a bit that I’ve been blogging, my peers have nominated me for this award five times. I can’t tell you how much this means to me. Each and every nomination is as surprising as the first and very special to me.
Thank you to the very talented Jodi from JF Gibson, Emily from You learn something new every day and Denise from Denise Mooney for nominating me this time around. If you’re not already following their blogs, get onto it – stat!
In accepting this award, I must answer 10 questions. Rather than answer 10 questions from each lovely lady, I am answering a few questions from each of them.
JF Gibson’s questions:
1. What is your favourite childhood memory?
I don’t have a single favourite memory, rather it’s a collection of memories from summer holidays at the beach. Mum and Dad used to rent a unit in the old Southern Cross building at Burleigh Heads where we would spend long days at the beach or by the pool. The days were fun and carefree. I have fond memories of vegemite and cheese toasted sandwiches after a morning at the beach, swimming out to the rocks with Dad, and listening to the birds go crazy in the Norfolk pines on dusk. I can’t wait to start this beach holiday tradition with our kids, but Dave keeps threatening camping. *Shudders*
2. First CD/album you bought with your own money?
*Hangs head in shame* Peter Andre – self-titled. Don’t judge me. ‘Gimme a little sign’ actually was quite catchy.
3. What’s your favourite sound?
This is going to sound cliche, but it’s out children’s laughter. Listening to them giggle and squeal as they play together is the greatest thing in the world. Another great sound is that of my first wine being poured on a Friday evening after a hectic week with said children.
4. Where is your dream holiday destination?
Right now, I would happily go anywhere, expect camping. Geez Dave, give it a rest 😉 As the end of the year approaches, I feel desperate for some R&R. I’m lucky enough to have travelled widely, but there is one place I haven’t been yet – the Greek Islands. I can definitely picture myself lazing in the courtyard of one of those iconic white houses as I overlook that magic blue water.
You learn something new every day’s questions:
5. What song do you play to get you in the mood for a party?
Oh, there are so many. I like to warm up with a few goldie oldies. You can’t start a party without a little Kylie and some S Club 7. This hit from Nelly Furtado, Timbaland and JT is a favourite of mine too. When I’m just about ready to walk out the door, I’ll pump out some Push up.
6. How do you cheer yourself up when you’re glum?
I usually put on some music and dance it out, watch a comedy with Dave, or head out for lunch with my friends.
7. Who was your first celebrity crush?
Johnny Depp. I don’t think I need to say anymore.
Denise Mooney’s questions:
8. If you could eat any meal in the world, where and what would it be?
I have fond memories of Dave and me in Paris eating the most delicious pizza we’ve ever eaten. After dinner we grabbed a bottle of red and drank it on the steps of the Sacre Coeur. I’d definitely like to relive that memory.
9. What’s your favourite blog post?
Just breathe. It’s a post I like to go back to every now and then to remind me to slow down and recognise the simple things in life.
10. If you were a cocktail, which one would you be and why?
I would be a beer. Yes, I realise beer is not a cocktail. I’m everyone’s friend and a good companion. I’m someone you can chill and have a good laugh with. I’m easy going, sometimes a little fancy, but generally down to earth.
Now I need to pass this onto 10 more bloggers. (No pressure, if you’ve already done one of these before).
And now for your 10 questions:
1. If you could star in a movie, which one would it be?
2. Tell me something you are good at.
3. Tell me something you are bad at.
4. If you could live in any part of the world, where would you live?
5. Morning or night person?
6. What is your most embarrassing moment?
7. If you won the Lotto, what would you do with the money?
8. How did you meet your other half?
9. What is your dream career?
10. What is your favourite ‘me time’ activity?
