Get your happy on – Mix Tape

Hey yo, who’s up for a dance?

Well you’ve come to the right place because … I’ve made you a mix tape!

I’ve been dancing my booty off to find the perfect tunes for you to rock out to. (I know, I know. The things I do for this blog.)

It was a tough task, but I’ve settled on 14 of my all-time favourite hits from the 80s through to now.

These are the songs that are guaranteed to make me feel good and I just know they will make you feel good too.

Whenever I am feeling low or under the weather, I turn to music to lift my spirits and put me in a better mood. For me, nothing beats stress better than a dance to my favourite tunes.

It’s no secret that life has gotten on top of me a little lately.

I have taken three days off work this week to indulge in some much needed me time, but guess what?! I was struck down with a tummy bug over the weekend *shakes fist* and I’m still feeling a little worse for wear now. Does that ever happen to you? As soon as you rest, you get sick?

Anyway, while the bug has slowed me down a little, I’m not going to let it get the better of me.

Cue mix tape and dancing. Lots of dancing.

This mix tape was made with the intention that you play it when you’re feeling a little down and need a lift, but this thing is SO good, you’re going to want to play it all the time.

I’ve started it off with a little Timbaland, Nelly Furtado and JT to ease you into your groove because nobody gets you warmed up better than those guys. By the time Freestylers comes on I want you burning up that dance lounge room floor. (Just be wary that if you intend to pump the jam with the kids, some of the songs on this tape have coarse language.)

Just click on the Timbaland link below to get the mix tape started. It will automatically play through all of the songs.

In the words of will.i.am and Britney Spears, turn it up and burn down the house. Turn it up and don’t turn it down.

Bring the action!

Ps. Make sure you stop by on Friday – I have something special for my second blogiversary.

Are any of your favourites on this tape? What songs lift your spirits? What’s your number one thing to do when you need a boost?

Linking up today with EssentiallyJess for I Blog On Tuesdays.

Not fair to get cik when you have taken some time out! That is always the way though, or at least for me, the moment I stop going at a hundred miles an hour my body succumbs to being sick. LOVE the mix tape and very excited about your blog birthday – 2 – wowee! congratulations xx

You definitely saved the best til last!
I do a love a dancing in the moonlight tune!
Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off has definitely grown on me, I have a 25 year old sister who is TS obsessed (has even met her in person, got picked out of a Brisbane concert crowd by TS’s Mum) she’s heading over to America next month to see her in concert.
The kidlets and I have been enjoying Meaghan Trainors ‘All about that base’ for some reason Alani calls it the Zamamabakes song?? Crazy kid.
Have a beautiful week Renee xx

So keen to crank this music up and have a bit of a dance around the house, but it is quiet time and I think my 2 year old would rouse on me. Will leave it here, and come back later on.

I always get sick when I stop. It’s kind of frustrating.
I had all the energy in the world this morning but then read the news with lunch and now I feel a bit crap. This is why I don’t normally read the news. It’s depressing. Just turned on music myself to make me feel better.

Omg I remember making mix tapes with my brother in our lounge room when we were in primary school. We used to pretend to be the radio people and record ourselves talking and then play the songs lol. My first boyfriend made me a few mix cds, seems to be the thing to do in a new relationship.

Oooh Toploader! I loved that song. I love the Hilltop Hoods one too. To be honest, I was an early eighties girl and was into Talking Heads and the Cure. My husband is ten years younger than I and much more into the late eighties (when I was having babies). He made me a mixed CD for me when we first met… naturally πŸ™‚

Oh how I LOLd when I saw Cosby Sweater by the Hilltop Hoods. It makes me think of you EVERY time it comes on the radio, from the whole Edenland lip-synching thing. It is irrevocably associated with you for all time. Such an awesome song too.
