I have a super special guest on the blog today, my husband Dave. Say hi to Dave everyone.
Dave is an all round awesome guy and the most chilled person you will ever meet. He takes everything in his stride, is his own man, and is wise beyond his years. He would give his own shirt off his back to you if you needed one, he’s that kind of guy.
Dave is hands down the biggest supporter of my blog. He always listens patiently to my hopes, dreams and frustrations.
When one of my favourite bloggers, Kylie Purtell, interviewed her husband on her blog this week and invited other bloggers to interview their husbands, I knew Dave would say yes if I asked him.
I have used the exact same questions Kylie used in her interview and wrote down Dave’s answers word for word. You can read Kylie’s hilarious interview here.
Without further ado, here is my Interview with a husband.
*Dave walks in about 7.45pm.*
Renee: Hi Davey. How was your day?
Dave: Good kid. Yours?
Renee: Good. You know Kylie from A study in contradictions?
Dave: Um, not personally, no.
Renee: She’s the funny one, the ‘it’s called In the Night Garden not in the Daytime Nap Garden‘ one.
Dave: *Laughs.* Yeah okay.
Renee: Well, she interviewed her husband on her blog the other day. He’s a Dave too.
Dave: The ladies love a Dave.
Renee: So, anyway I’m just going to ask you a few questions about me for the blog.
Dave: About you? Tricky.
Renee: What is the best part about being married to Renee?
Dave: Well … I guess … you know … the fun we have, the banter, the laughter and the dancing.
Renee: What is the worst part about being married to Renee?
Dave: Her need to always be on time and her inability to stack a dishwasher.
Renee: What is Renee’s most annoying habit?
Dave: How you give in to the kids to avoid a meltdown. How you try to negotiate with them. You can’t negotiate with terrorists. You give them too many options. Don’t ask them what they want, just give it to them …
Renee: Okay. Let’s not get too carried away.
Dave: You do anything to avoid upsetting them.
Renee: I think we should move on.
Renee: What is Renee’s most endearing habit?
Dave: The fact that you can get up at 5.30am in the morning and get on with your day even if you’re knackered because you know you have to get up and get ready for the kids.
Renee: What do you admire most about Renee?
Dave: Umm, oh the fact that you’re very dedicated to your blog work.
Renee: What was the first thing that attracted you to Renee.
Dave: Ummm. *Takes a long time to answer.* Your cans.
Dave: Well, first thing is like a physical attraction. I was pretty cut, but I think I thought you were a pretty good looking chick with a funny personality.
Renee: What do you enjoy most about being a Dad?
Dave: Everything that comes with being a father outside of dealing with cranky kids, teaching, exposing them to new things, the love and happiness you get from them and just guiding them through life just as I was guided by my father.
Renee: What do you least enjoy about being a Dad?
Dave: The inability to reason with a screaming kid.
Renee: What was your favourite thing to do with Renee pre-kids?
Dave: Seeing some great places and meeting some great people.
Renee: What do you miss doing with Renee now you have kids and limited time?
Dave: Going to the movies.
Renee: What is your most hated household chore? Do you even do any household chores?
Dave: Yeah! I do all the grotty ones. Cleaning out the shower drain. I’m the only one who does that.
Renee: What is your least hated household chore? It’s stacking the dishwasher isn’t it? You love doing that.
Dave: I actually don’t like stacking the dishwasher, Naisy. Getting outside and working the outside of the house. Although shifting soil on a 40 degree day is not so fun.
Renee: What’s your favourite thing to cook?
Dave: Bacon and eggs on a Sunday morning and a cappuccino in my newly developed cappuccino system (hot milk frothed up in the Baby Bullet).
Renee: What do you think annoys Renee most about you?
Dave: My she’ll be right attitude.
Renee: I actually like that.
Dave: What was the question?
Dave: The fact that I sit in bed and watch YouTube before I get out on a Saturday and Sunday morning while you’re downstairs dealing with the kids.
Renee: Yes, that really annoys me.
Renee: What do you think Renee loves most about you?
Dave: My dance moves.
Renee: Why do you think Renee is lucky to be married to you?
Dave: That’s a tough one to answer. I guess I make her happy and I make her laugh and smile which is a big part of the marriage.
Renee: What do you think is the secret to a happy marriage?
Dave: I think the advice that my mum said about their marriage – never going to bed on an argument, the ability to laugh with and at each other, the ability to compromise, and the willingness to allow each person to continue to discover themselves and evolve throughout their marriage and be supportive of that change.
Renee: That’s really nice, Davey.
Dave: Thanks kid.
Thanks again to Kylie for these awesome questions and interview idea.
Do you think your husband would be up for an interview? Do you think he’d find it easy or hard to answer these questions?
